• 9 Reasons Why Fall Shouldn’t Exist

I must say that I really don’t like fall.  Many people talk about the beauty of the changing leaves, the brisk cool air, the shorter days without the bitter cold of winter.  And on and on they go, recounting the supposed wonder of the fall season.  Well I have compiled a list about why I hope that God strikes the season of Fall clean off the face of the earth.  Here goes:

    1.  Summer.  It’s so glorious why end it?

    2.  It’s a season of death – (not dead, but death.  That’s right, during winter everything is dead, fall however things are dying.  This is far worse than just ‘dead’.  Think about it, who fears being dead?  Nobody.  But dying, oh people fear that, so they should also fear Fall.)

    3. Too cold to wear shorts, flip flops, and a tank top.  But it’s to warm to wear a jacket.  So we’re left with flannel (that fashion faux-pa) or with hoodies – but seriously, most job’s wont allow either.

    4. Depression.  It is scientifically proven that during the dreary days of fall there is a spike in suicides and other depression related illnesses.  We need the summer sun!

    5.  Shorter days.  Need I say more?

    6. Cold whether with no snow.  If it’s going to be cold, at least let it snow.  What is the point of cold with no snow- doesn’t make sense does it?  You can’t ski on cold weather.  Can I get a shout from Colorado?!

    7. Leaves.  Many of you will view Fall leaves as a positive.  You will argue beauty and grace, but you are the people who don’t have to rake them up.  Just ask someone with a massive Cotton Wood Tree in their back yard if they think that fall leaves are a positive thing?

    8.  Halloween.  It’s Evil.  And don’t give a big line about all Saints Day.  We all know the truth.

    9.  Child Obesity.  That’s right, it is during the time of fall that children grow larger and larger.  There are two causes of this.  First, Halloween – all that candy goes straight to making your child another statistic in our ever growing population of overweight children.  The second cause is more kids sitting inside in front of their televisions due to the colder whether, shorter days, and depression that sets in in the fall months.

So, next time you go outside and breath in that breath of crisp fall air, and your about to rejoice. Stop!  And just think about all the damage this season does to humanity, and instead, mourn the dying of summer.

    • I have to disagree with this blog!

Here are some reasons why I love the Fall

      1. Cooler weather- Being pregnant with twins, i get very hot. It is so nice to be able to sit through a church sermon without getting fainty or feeling gross because of the heat.

      2. Candy Pumpkins- Need I say more? I understand that these candies are probably made of pure corn syrup but both my doctor and dentist believe these indulgences are okay as long as they are in moderation and I remember to brush my teeth.

      3. Roctober- Can I get a shout out from Colorado? The Rockies have made the playoffs and it will be fun to see what they can do. Oh, and by the way…Loveland and Arapahoe Basin are projected to open in two weeks! The mountains have already gotten a lot of snow for the season.

      4. Hunting Season- Once upon a time I had a real cool friend who lived in Colorado who went hunting every fall. I am not a hunter myself, but I always loved it when this pal of mine when return home and tell me about the beautiful scenery and the adventure of it all. Every now and then he would actually get an elk and I would get some great meat out of the deal…for free!

      5. Call it death but the leaves really are beautiful- There is a season for everything under heaven. This is the season where the leaves die, things get ready for the winter. Why does death have to be such a “bad thing” all of the time? Today I went to go visit a good friend of mine who is dying of cancer. She is beautiful…she lived a long life serving the Lord and now she is waiting for him to take her home. Today she reminded me of those beautiful leaves I see on those trees. Only the Lord knows when her time will be up, but today she is magnifying his glory in her life….she is beautiful, just like the leaves waiting to fall to the ground. Blessed be the name of the Lord who gives and takes away. Remember…in the spring we always get new leaves!

      6. Thanksgiving- Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday that I think often gets overlooked. It is a time to bring beautiful dishes to the table, with family and be thankful for all the Lord has provided. This year I am hoping to have two babies at that table that I can praise the Lord for! This make this 2009 fall extra special!

      7. A warm pot of chili! Man…I know the grilling season is over, but this the perfect time of the year to whip out new recipes with savory soups and homemade breads!

      8. Wearing jeans and hoodies again- Time to whip out the new wardrobe. I don’t wear flannel…but speaking of flannel…

      9. Get out the flannel sheets!- Oh and snuggle up to one you love! I love it!

So Rob…I think you need to lay off of the flannel, bundle in your hoodie, go outside and make a big pile of leaves that you and Kaurah can jump around in. Then, go inside and enjoy some apple cider or maybe some hot cocoa with your family! Allow yourself to admire the fall colors this year. One more thing….get your self some candy pumpkins!

    • Jackie…you’re amazing and I totally agree. Added to that, sleeping in the cold is AMAZING and hot showers. I am totally on board witht the jeans and hoodie, though I may wear my flannel shirt today… Personally for me the cold weather depression doesn’t hit until February or March and only if there isn’t enough snow. I get bored with seasons, summer and winter always seem to last too long but Fall is short and pretty!

    • Thank you Cat!

I thought of some other reasons why I like the fall!

My seasonal allergies end in the fall!

Also…I love to put up fall decorations in my house.

I know there was another reason…but It just slipped my mind!

    • Wait wait wait… You only need one reason to love the fall:
      It’s God’s creation!
Or are you gonna argue that perhaps it is a result of a fallen world?

Either way I think you’re hosed.

Disclaimer: I don’t personally like the fall either… I miss summer too!

    • Dude I TOTALLY agree with you. Fall does suck! Everyday I think about how summer is further and further away. The only reason I slightly like fall is hunting. The time of year means that I get to kill more things, which is alright. But I hate the fact that winter is going to be here in ohio for the next 6 months, as will it be in Kentucky! Have fun with that! I’ll be here another year I suppose, but then i’ll be moving back somewhere where the sun continues to shine year round!
